Aykut Özdemir, Process Engineer, Orhangazi, Turkey
Q: Describe your duties and responsibilities during your traineeship?
A: In the first summer, I worked in the engineering department in Orhangazi in Turkey. I checked the updates of the part tooling design 2D drawings regarding gating, feeding and core support and inspected those shapes on the patterns. In the next summer, I worked in another foundry in Finland and learned many things about casting at all stages.
Q: Where did you start in the first summer and where did you complete your international training period?
A: I started my trainee programme in the Orhangazi foundry in Turkey and completed the programme in the Högfors foundry in Finland in the second summer.
Q: Share your experiences of Componenta’s International Trainee Program?
A: This international program is the way of communicating, learning and working with other cultures. The first summer, I was in the engineering department in Orhangazi. I had a chance to see the applications of CAD projects in casting solutions.
The second summer I was in the Högfors foundry. It is the same factory than in Turkey but smaller. Being abroad, communicating other people and working with them were very different. I had never been abroad. That was my first time and I was very excited. Finnish people are very different from us. They are little bit cold towards strangers but I think you just have to share long time to get to know them. Nature of Finland is excellent with lots of forest and lakes.
Q: Would you recommend the program? What were the best issues during the program?
A: I completely recommend this program. Most of the trainee programs are short, but in this program, you can learn lots of things during two summers. Being abroad, seeing other cultures and working different ways are the best part of this program.
Q: After the training program, what career opportunities Componenta has offered to you?
A: I am working as a process engineer in the Orhangazi foundry.
