Peter van den Heuvel:"I can say that the foundry business is a very interesting business where development continuously takes place" |
|
Just before I joined the Componenta Group in 2004 I graduated with a Bachelor degree in mechanical engineering. Componenta was still called De Globe at that time. During the first months I had the opportunity to orientate myself in the wide spectrum of the foundry process. Later on I worked on different production related projects. During the first year I was also offered to get educated as foundry engineer and of course I accepted this opportunity. After a year I began to work as moulding and core sand technologist. During this period I acquired a lot of practical experience which helped me to understand the complete foundry process better related to the moulding process. During 2006 I got the chance to begin the Six Sigma Black Belt training. For this function I had a four-week training at the University of Amsterdam, synchronically with the in-company project. Since then I have worked on improvement projects at Componenta Weert. One of the great advantages of the Six Sigma approach is that you can apply this improvement method at almost every process, not only at technical processes. The statement of Six Sigma is: if you have no process, you have no problem. For example one of the projects focuses on better delivery performance, meaning not only the production processes are relevant but also the order and shipping processes. Always new challenges in the foundry business Summarized I can say that the foundry business is a very interesting business where development continuously takes place. On the other hand the foundry business has a high level of tradition and a bit conservative attitude. This combination makes Componenta a social company with a lot of skills, opportunities and growth possibilities. There will always be a new challenge to deal with. |
