Environmental risks

The environmental management systems identify the risks to the environment arising from business operations that may lead to emissions in the air, water or soil.

We strive, through proactive maintenance, and structural measures to prevent this kind of risk situations.

Emergency plans have been drawn up for the production units. In a risk situation or when an incident occurs, the necessary actions are carried out immediately and afterwards an assessment is made of the actions taken during the emergency and of the readiness for such an incident.

Lessons should be learned from all risk situations. The necessary changes to structures, practices and instructions are made on the basis of recorded non-conformities.

Over the course of 2011 we had a few exceptional situations in terms of the environment in our different units. Due to these situations we have undertaken corrective measures and made changes in order to prevent similar situations in the future.  

Complaints were made to Componenta’s units over the course of the year 2011 regarding odours, noise, particles and wastewater leaks. The most neighbourhood complaints came in Heerlen, where they were mainly due to odours.
